    Yes,
There will be a 1.5mm black wire i.e the ignition supply that goes to the + terminal of the coil and also supplies the TCI-H and ignition ECU.

The red/black wires are 0.5 mm and are on one spare of the - coil terminal that supplies the tach and idle controls. There is also a 1.5mm green wire off the other - coil spade that is connected to the TCI-h.

The red/black wire to the starter on terminal 50 is 4mm.

Scans of the Haynes for 16v K-jet can be found >>here<<

Put a direct feed to positive side on pump and see if it pumps

try the 18 relay in the fuel socket, the 53 relay doeant work so well as its too small on the main contacts. if still nothing check fuse and wiring, and see if you have 12v to the red.yellow wires to the lift and main pump.

what fusebox is it ce1 or ce2? (where is the hazard switch)

if you have the full 16v engine loom you can use a 67/80/167 relay in slot 2 this will then be controlled by the ecu, the 63 relay will still work fine though as it has no rev limiter. just if you need a new relay make it one of the above as they're cheaper and easier to get, since used on mk3 golf petrol models amongst others.

if the 18 relay doesnt get the fuel pump on with the ignition you have ruled out the fuel pump relay as the issue anyway

right then, next step is check the fuse socket has power with ignition on (18 relay fitted) and E/14 round the back. check for power at the fuel pump itself, make sure the earth has continuity to ground, and try jumping the pump with 12v direct see if it works

What did I say at the very start? ;)
Try a direct feed to the pump to check pump is ok? If they sit around for a while pumps don't like it and seize up think it maybe unleaded fuel nowadays

if the fuel pump needed a tap to get it going, chances are its not going to be very healthy. Next step is check over the kjet system as per this thread, in particular see if you can get any fuel out of the injectors now you have got the pump going:
    http://www.clubgti.com/showthread.php?195423

The firing order is correct on your cap, just need to make sure lead #1 is where the rotor arm is pointing when the engine is at TDC. How have you made the abf cap fit? did you grind out the locating notch or rotate the dizzy 180 degrees?
