Ian Fleming actually "profiled" his Bond and he was supposed to be 6ft tall and 76kg - a touch heavier than 5'8" me. I'm not obsessed with bulk, I just think that beyond a certain level, excess ,muscle is pointless - slows you down. Strength, stamina and power are far more important. Look at the SAS - very few of them are bulky in any way.

Elucidate - I have trained (riot training - we were the riot crowd and threw bricks and rocks at them) with a number of them in Wales and we had a good chat afterwards. So I don't "know" them as such but I was still able to see them, as I'm fitted with a pair of eyeballs. I know a few serving (and not long ex) Marines too - not the same but again, none are particularly large. Of course I am aware that you know every serving SAS and SBS soldier personally and have trained them all to shoot.
I had a pal in the Marines, Shuggie Carmichael, who wanted to be a veggie. Only way he could do it back then was on religious or medical grounds. He obviously couldn't go on medical 'cause the general fix from the Naval Medics was "take a couple of painkillers and we'll see you next week", so he changed his religious to Buddist! I kid you not. A Buddist Commando, they let him do it, then had to provide him with vegetarian meals! Hahahaaa I left the Marines in 'Dec '88. Ray
