debate is good. Please, keep it up, if for nothing else, 'our' amusement.

Seems to me, that not everyone is happy with forum runnings. For a long time mod/admin (i will class you as the same) have known this, if from nothing else the 'whine' threads that get deleted on a regular basis.

if you are fed up with deleting (that is if you are forced to, and not because you have a personal issues with said poster) then take it up with your superior instead of ruining 'our' enjoyment. After all, this forum/cgti site is run by nutters for nutters. Or should you edit that site message to read:

ive owned more vws than youve had hot dinners. Before you were even born!!! so fck off to your fringe sites/forums because we dont need kiddies whet behind the ears to tell us what to do, understood?

admin are not my superiors - they simply have extra buttons.

and yes, i'm not happy with the way the forum is going at all. too many people with absolutely no interest in VW's at all ruining it for evryone, and too many people just posting complete and utter shite!!!! what's all that TUT crap about?? bet most o them aren't even members and don't contribute anything worth a f*ck to the forum.

on the other hand, what's all the crap about being banned for swearing??

"oh i wouldn't want my kids reading this" - well don't effin let your kids read it then!!!!

are they so soddin mollycoddled that they can't read a simple swear word on the t'internet FFS! they only have to mis-type one word into google and get shitloads of porn, yet we can't swear on an adult-orientated discussion site??

    that's actually a good plan.... [:^:]

Yes debate IS good. But theres a diference between 'debate' and pointless drivel.

"not everyone is happy". When are any group of individuals ever all happy with anything?

We try not to ruin 'your' enjoyment. But we have certain rules and we do give leeway but occasionally we have a crackdown. then all the winging starts. We have made some bad decisions in the past but we are only human...yeah that's right we're not machines.

Paid for by the club members.....of which you aren't one may I point out.

Don't get the relevance of this comment. Would you explain what you mean by it please.

    edit: @ darryn

Mate, that was not aimed at you, but finally some fcking emotion.

Superiors, meant, as in cgti owners. Seem to hear/see an awful lot about the way things should be run but nothing from their mouths. or keyboards. if we are supposed to adhere by rules (lets face it, in terms of enforcement and consistency, they hold no weight) then, should we not hear from 'them'?

The only way i can see this going is less and less getting posted. From the 'real' car enthusiasts this would be a welcome change.

I have news. I am an enthusiast. i choose not to get involved in 'does my car look good with this mod'. 'this ebay tw@t thinks he can sell this' shhhit threads are not exclusive to general chat and for mod/admin to only enforce threads in general chat makes the whole scene look ridiculous. And i am deadly serious about the whole scene as stated before about events, meets etc etc...

oh my, point by point then...

Who should decide what is debate, good banter, drivel. You? Mods? anyone else? Come on, something you may deem pointless may actually contribute to the scene. Those people who mods think are talking nonsense may actually turn up at a meet. May provide something of substance towards the scene.

never, but when you have many peeps questioning the judgement of descions made, then something needs to change. unfortunately this may have a negative effect on 'our' scene.

"ruining our enjoyment". Step back and read that again. 'our' enjoyment. Who are you trying to protect. the mass's? Us from ourselves? If there are twenty people laughing about a topic in a thread then deleting it for the sake of the "family's" (which i have yet to see contribute in any manner) is wrong. Take a perspective view of who postes on here and then decide whether a thread should be delted or not.
Does that mean my contribution holds less weight??
they' usually have a dictation over what is posted and what is not. by this i mean they must define themselves in their mission statement and not mislead us.

i have to just dive in here (even though i am far too tired to want to get involved this morning)

ClubGTI spend a lot of money on hosting for the forum. ClubGTI as an organisation gets it's money from ClubGTI members subs - the members own the club, the club owns the forum

Non ClubGTI members who use the forum are welcomed for their shared interest in VWs, their contributions that benefit CGTI members and non-members alike and as a promotional/recruiting tool for CGTI.

However since someone who isn't a CGTI member doesn't contribute to the running of the forum their opinion on the running of the forum does carry less weight.

There are more non cgti paid members on this forum than there are paid members. So if your argument is; the running of this forum is not contributed by non paid members, then your point is invalid. Should i pay 25 so my point is heard; Or so I can be seen to contribute? i'll answer that for you: No.

if you were to limit this scene (already limited compared to 106's, 206', 306's infact alot of pugs, corsa's, saxo's, etc etc ) to paid members then you are inextricably alienating those who wish to seek information to the 'either pay of get lost' category.

Answer me this, and for gods sake think before you type, where exactly do you see this scene going? Do you think that this forum and its runnings plays a part?

    From the outsider's prospective...
