Precisely (unless its just purely to feel good or for a power-sport).

And some people with massive strength and awesome physiques are THE most insecure people on the planet.

    My initial interest was looks.
Now it's fitness and strength for other sports.

And being in decent shape is a handy bonus.

Yes I want to look good. Major thing for me was the health aspect of things. Looking after my heart, and my body. I dont fancy a heart-attack induced by a crappy diet and lack of excersise. I may be alot bigger than most of my mates, but funnily enough i'm much fitter than them. I've stopped smoking, cut down the beer lifting, feeling better so its all good.

Prof - what I sent you was simply the chest based stuff I do, but I'd be interested to see Daves work out plan. Had a wicked 1 hour session yesterday and went to physical breaking point (I could barely lift my arms up from my side, let alone any weights). Kept doing 2 sets of 12, 1 set of 10 with 15 press ups afterwards before going on to the next machine or routine. Looked pretty ripped after too, which paid dividends when I got home;)

recruit motor units= how efficiently you can activate your muscles.

An advanced lifter will be able to fire more muscle fibres than a beginner, so gets more out of each rep, and probably can't handle as much volume-or amount of exercise, as they work harder on each one..

    make sense?

    couple of typos in it

most of the big exercises are 5 sets of 5reps, the other stuff where it says 3x10 or 10x3 are all 3 sets of 10 reps

I'll add the squats in and change the reps to match what you've said and see how it goes. Everything else is in my usual workout routine though.... which is good
