Fair play mate, great to see dedication to bringing her back to life. Many (myself included sadly) have scrapped shells with less rust that that. But the best thing is you'll be able to say "I did that". Keep up the good work. I know that motivation can be hard. I guess that it's seeing your own hard work slowly coming to fruition that eggs a person on. Top work. Sam
ive got a B reg white 3 door on those P slots .it has an indestrutable engine 300000 miles ,it was 100 quid and ive ran it for seven years put in new clutch & mad economy gear box,my buiscuit roller has trashed fords etc an cost me 1000.s why cant she like golfs?
been a while so time for an update: progress has been slow as i only really get 1 day and 1 evening a week working on her but things are moving on welding complete to date: both inner sills repaired both outers sills replaced both rear inner arches repaired both outer arches replaced foor pans repaired chassic leg replaced both inner wings repaired mk4 gearbox tower installed pending rear panel exhaust and interior welding here are some pics
My god you've got stuck in to that one!! Fair play to you though, people scrap too many mk2's, an you must be gaining quite a bit of experience doing that much work. Good on you sir. It's going to need a 20vt in it though, if you put something like an 8v in after all that work you'd be depressed
progress is still going on but no pics for now but i did pick up some shiney bits today - and i know they are just powdercoated mk2 golf bits but when you have seen as much rusty metal as i have in the last 18 months shiney bits are very exciting
We all love shiny bits. But id think, you must love them more! Lol. Glad youve kept at it. I always check to see if youve updated your thread. As alot of others on here do too id guess. Well done mate.
quick update: had some help today and we got most of the seam sealer done - so tomorrow is a momentus occasion and i get to put some top coat on happy days - pics are boring but why not
