How did the fan handle demisting the wind screen in the rain?? Keen to find out as looking for options. Thanks
It did very well. It was capable of maintaining the screen if I Left the garage with it on. But I went out once with it off and turned it on when the screen started to Mist up and it could only keep he screen as it was and not reduce the mist, but the mist didn't get worse with the fan on. Hope that helps.
You need Rain-X antifog on the inside of the windscreen. It`s brilliant. That, coupled with the fan will keep it crystal clear in the damp
I mentioned it before, if the windscreen temperature is colder than the air in the cabin, then it will condense the moisture in the air. If we try and evaporate the condensation on the windscreen with dry air, the evaporation is endothermic and it chills the window even more, so there's the conundrum. Best solution is install a windscreen heater.. http://www.frostfighter.com/clear-view-front-wiper-defrosters.htm
I forgot to mention that I had ordered some of this. I think combined with the fan it will work well. Agreed Blis that heated air is better, understand the temperature difference and the attraction water particles in the air have to cold objects. But with the fan on the mist was controlled, it was a very rainy day so believe with the antifog on the screen it will be controllable without the need to install heat.
It's not so much as heating the air as it is heating the window, if you heat the air, the air in the cabin will rise, the window temp will chill from the outside and you fog again, that's where the RAIN-X kicks in. Is there a possibility of venting some of the exhaust manifold heat onto the outside of the windscreen, like two ducted electric blowers under the scuttle?
Perfect sounds good too me. Think I will go a similar route. Just keep topping up the rain X along side the blower.
Oops... acidentally bought some fibreglass wings and accidentally had them painted to fit on the track car... Don't tell the wife
I presume that's why they're in your office and not at home lol All my deliveries come to work They look very nice and'll take a bit off your front heavy bird lol
Hi mike, that was the main reason for the arches as well as a little weight saved from the front. But car upgrades are on hold at the moment due to buying a new house. Hopefully once we are in ill be buying some new wheels and looking at the rear arches.
Not much progress on the golf lately while the house move goes through, but had to have a little fix so bought some new wheels ready for a few planned upgrades once I'm in the new gaff! 17" team dynamics pro race 3 wheels Won't be fitted to the car yet as have some more upgrades planned... Remove and strip gearbox, replace final drive with 3.944. Rear camber ajustment Front camber adjustable topmounts Few replacement parts general wear and tear (cv joints all round and ball joints) more to come soon
