Back down on all fours again, paint has cured nicely despite the cold weather. Couple of runs to sand and polish put but will see to these once I have the remaining panels in paint.

passenger door and tailgate need a little bit of work before paint, will be retrofitting mk4 style number plate lights with the better vag waterproof plugs into the tailgate as the previous number plate light mounting points were rotted out.

new youtube video is out too painting the shell, not far from 1k subs now! [IMG]

Doors, bonnet and tailgate have now been prepped and outside skins flatted out in high build primer, will probably paint the undersides tonight then give them a couple days before flipping them over and painting the outside skin as I find if I hang the panels vertically its a lot easier to get runs, especially when painting in sub 10 degrees.

Tailgate now takes mk4/5 style number plate lights, with better wiring and waterproof plugs etc

bolted up the tail lights which was very satisfying , i really can’t wait to hang up the spray gun for the final time soon and button this massive project up for good!

Underside of panels now in paint, not ideal painting conditions when its cold enough to see your own breath [IMG]

Only one round of painting left to do now!

fitted a mk3/early mk4 wiper motor, easy upgrade for scirocco owners as its completely plug and play, gives stronger and smoother wipers. I stripped the spindles right down and regreased them too, a quick bench test of the motor and everything runs smooth and turns nice and free

Will hopefully fire the panels on this weekend, then can start to build up the doors again, get glass back in etc.

Have all the bits from bigg red to rebuild the brakes too, its all go!

I hope with 'glass' you mean polycarbonate. You're just adding a lot of weight I see :p

All the panels are back on, as is the grill, lights, bumpers etc….Starting to come together now!

loads and loads of small rebuild jobs ahead of me now, but its much funner than sanding and painting!

Bit of rebuild progress as of late.

Been building the doors back up, everything is 30+ years old now so hinges, catches, handles etc all cleaned up and regreased.

Doorcards are actually original to the car and so have had 15+ years of sitting in a scrappy exposed to the elements, refurb required!

Outer scraper seals are pretty impossible to get for these now so I've basically cut up mk4 3dr ones generously donated by my friend Ross that breaks VAG cars, they pop on quite nicely and actually wipe the window as it goes up and down, unlike the scirocco ones!

Also got the rest of the glass in minus the front screen and drivers door glass, most of this glass is actually the original glass for the car, no reg plate stamps though unfortunately.

Now the spoiler can go back on and I can start to finish up the remainder of the wiring and get it running again

Interior wise I'm going to carpet it to a certain extent, oem doorcards, oem dash and my sparco bucket seats, should look quite tidy.

    Main things left to do...

    - rebuild the brakes, new pistons and seals and lick of paint

    - refurb wheels and new tyres, thinking gloss black for wheels

    - final wiring checks, lights, wipers, washer jets etc etc

    - interior, finish heater plumbing etc

    - source and fit windscreen

probably loads more but I’m getting there!

    Coming together very nicely mate!

Sorry if I’ve missed it but what are you utilising in the Emerald? You just having a single all-go map or you planning on using some of the other features?

Ps I vote anthracite on the wheels

    Hi, thanks very much!

With the emerald I'm going to have a little switch on the dash to toggle between 3 maps, 1x high boost map, 1x low boost map and 1x MOT lean map.

I'll use as much of the features as I can and see how it goes.
