Very impressive little car you have there. Amazing what a little calibration can do. (As toyotec twiddles his finger tips).

You may have a little spark problem like i have mate! Must be like a go kart to drive.

Can't wait to get my MS1 ECU back from Eddy and get the MK1 Running and Mapped on the Rollers. [:D]

Will be interesting to see what results i get with the new set - up .

    this is impressive!
can we comfirm the engine spec? all i can see is an uprated fuel pump fueling a std abf block and head. any head work? and cam spec? 4 branch?

    Great results ,

looking forward to the trackdays this year, hope to see you at a few.

I still need to get mine to Streamline to get some figures and for a final tune by Toyotec.

    Thanks guys.
    Paul, the spec is:
    - ABF bottom end
    - Standard untouched KR head with tired original valves & springs
    - Standard ABF cams.
    - Inlet, injectors & pressure regulator are standard ABF with a cone filter
    - Exhaust is a Supersprint 4-2-1 and Supersprint 60mm race system with 2x silencers (Uber loud though).

The uprated fuel system was just to solve fuel starvation on bends. Doesn't affect power runs.

The only changes pre & post K-jet were Inlet & injectors swapped to ABF stuff with a cone filter, a ford 4-pole coilpack replaced the TCI setup and the MS v3 system. None of the engine hardware has been touched or altered.

Can't wait to see what your car does too Brookie.

Steve, deffinately! Can't wait for the season to start. Don't really know how many I will make it to. Be good to see you again.

    Gurds

Great result - the last graph says it all. Such an improvement from K-Jet.
Quality moment when Toyo pulled 13 brake out on a single run, waving his fingers when asked how!

Glad to see the end result of this back-to-back piece of MS tuning, so no bother on the photos. Will get the vids over to you.

Did you notice yet more difference on the way home?

Monster! It was quick enough on the 160 bhp map! Nice set of cams and a flowed head might go well ;)

Is it running out of airflow at the top end? Torque seems to drop off from 5500 rpm, which seems fairly consistent across all the plots - just the level is higher.

Having said that, I'll be well happy if I get half of your gain on my 2.0 8v.

some imprssive figures and gains over the Kjet system.

I hope eddie can work his magic ( im hoping for a decent return all the money i have spent on the engine) on my car in the next few weeks, after he got it running and put a basic setup on it.

Yea torque does start to dive but we think it's probably running out of airflow/cam as you say. Even then, it still maintains over 140lbft till 6500rpm.

On a rolling road that's not known for being overly optimistic too.

It just goes to show... most of us would look to change heads and cams before worrying about optimising ignition and fuel maps. It suggests we're doing it the wrong way round, and the real HP per 100 spent isn't by improving the top end breathing on a kjet setup.

So, is this the real route to a near-200bhp valver on a budget (on a stock bottom end).
It maybe also supports the suggestion I've heard before: that VW de-tuned the ABF a bit, to create more of a differential between that and the VR6.

Torque diving has nothing to do with actual airflow restriction in the intake as such. That would be horsepower dropping of (rapidly).

It is most likely due to cam(timing).

But cool result none the less!

Now the question is: will I be daft enough to pax Keerat round the 'Ring this year again, in this!

Toyo calls it the 'tough love dyno' !

As you say Brian and thats what I mean. Power being a product of torque and mild cams not holding the torque at high RPM = power drop.

Don't worry, Keerat has a more powerful taxi in his possesion to ferry you round the 'ring in now, albeit much heavier though. It comes in a 6 cylinder flavour ;)
