i work in a pub and as a smoker its a pain in the sometimes nipping ouside every time u want a fag even more annying when got a pain of butt custumer!! but good advantage my clothes dont constantly stink like an ash tray
Our local's got a well nice smoking area outside. Loads of heaters plenty of seating loads of plants growing round the sides to keep the wind out. I rarely go inside the pub anymore apart from getting a round in and I'm not even a smoker.
I think part of the cost reasoning is that if the smokers quit, the less, eventually, will need to be treated (at huge cost) for smoking-related diseases. (I'm speaking as an ex-smoker whom a spell of pneumonia nearly killed. Due to the lung damage, I now struggle to breathe in less than ideal conditions. So I know that these diseases cost horrendous amounts to treat.) Having said that, I hate the nanny-state attitude of the government, and think people should be allowed more choice in their own actions. Things get worse all the time - even the new Passat won't let me start it until I've fastened my seatbelt!!!
