have replaced my dads and mine and i found that duck take can come off after a while.i used clear plastic sheets from a roll luckily left by the houses previous owner..its for the greenhouse i think...?
i think that B&Q stuff sounds good, or that really sticky see-through garden tape which is like really wide and thick cellotape

Go with the flashing...... or just put the whole sheet of plastic inside the door itself, using the top trim strip to hold it in place. No need for tape then.

Ok I need to replace my door membranes as I have a leak. So the general consensus is that I need to rip the old membrane off and cover the metal on the door with duct tape strips?

It comes in rolls up to about 14 inches wide - you don't need many strips!

Waterproof, and it's foil-backed thick tarry stuff. It does keep more road noise out.

Just clean the door skin off with thinners or meths, white spirit, whatever..... you can get the stuff in B&Q or Homebase, the normal brands are Marley or Denso......

    I just called up VW,

It seems the new door membranes they have are "thick asbestos type ones" His words!!! and they don't do the plastic ones anymore.

    Anyone know anything about this?
