you can tape over them but i just ripped mine off. they get in the way. `they cant be more than 5 surely jesus do you want me to come round and do it for you.....
I know they rip off!!! I replaced one of mine with a asda bag and some duck tape! But someone said they are really expensive. I just checked, they are 5.50 each!
have replaced my dads and mine and i found that duck take can come off after a while.i used clear plastic sheets from a roll luckily left by the houses previous owner..its for the greenhouse i think...? i think that B&Q stuff sounds good, or that really sticky see-through garden tape which is like really wide and thick cellotape
Go with the flashing...... or just put the whole sheet of plastic inside the door itself, using the top trim strip to hold it in place. No need for tape then.
flashing tape sounds and looks good....gonna have a go at the myself...must use a lot of it though, up and down in strips...
Ok I need to replace my door membranes as I have a leak. So the general consensus is that I need to rip the old membrane off and cover the metal on the door with duct tape strips?
Ahh ok so whats the diff? is flash tape better? water-resistant? and does it keep more road noise out?
Brilliant where can i get it from? I thought i would have to cut new membranes outa sheeting lol. Oh and will I need to prepare the doors? Edited by: Mk2GolfBoy
Just clean the door skin off with thinners or meths, white spirit, whatever..... you can get the stuff in B&Q or Homebase, the normal brands are Marley or Denso......
I just called up VW, It seems the new door membranes they have are "thick asbestos type ones" His words!!! and they don't do the plastic ones anymore. Anyone know anything about this?
i used a hot glue gun to stick the membrane back on, might go get me some of this flash tape tho, i likes the sound of a mk4 door shutting when its on my mk2 anyways lol
