I finally got my RallyKa back up and running, after almost 10 years of a hiatus.
Repaint, rewire, refurbished remote reservoir coilovers, refurbished wheels, fitted a pedal box, rear disc conversion, Alcon 4 pots up front, custom ARB, new ecu, pretty much everything either lighter, stronger or safer (sometimes combining a couple of those), new wraparound seat, harnesses, plumbed in extinguisher, 4 new Yokohama A052s.... etc etc etc.
Dyno'd at a slightly disappointing 130 ish bhp (1388cc Ford Puma Zetec SE engine ), but more to come.

Was having a great time at a trackday, embarrassing 2.0 Clio 197s,
    Until....

    .....

    ....

I found 2nd instead of 4th, while trying to avoid someone cutting me.
    The engine revved up...
Then it wouldn't rev at all.

    Oops.

Got away light, I should get away with just replacing the exhaust valves. I was relatively lucky, as the bottom end is stocj apart from rod bolts. IMG-20220627-WA0006.jpeg

    @Tristan , whoops.
Mind you the puma 1.4 lump must be a bit thin on the ground now too?

    I have a selection in storage [:D]

More or less the same from 97 up to 05 ish, in the 1.4 Fiesta and Focus. Bottom end is stronger on the later ones apparently too.

Mine came out of a 97 Puma heading for the scrapper.

I am amazed how advanced mobile phones have become. My first mobile was a Motorola where you put the whole sim card (credit card size) in the back and you were charged by the minute for calls. You received an itemised monthly bill. Tetris and Snake were a breakthrough and something else for you to do on your phone. You could also change the facias, add a bigger battery and replace the stubby ariel for one that flashed when the phone rang!
Using the phone for anything other than making and receiving calls was a pipe dream.

If you wanted a custom ringtone, you had to program it by "typing over" a "song" from the internet [:D]

Spend ages doing it, then not notice you have put a couple of bum notes in accidentally.

Of course... I recall there use to be ads for ringtones that you paid for and were sent to your phone! Nokia was the king of phones, then the Matrix came out and everyone wanted that banana phone. Phones lasted a week before charginig, every phone had a different charger and there was no need for protective screen covers. You put your new phone in a leather case and clipped it to your belt!

That is unforgivable @dragonfly - such people should be taken to the edge of the village and flogged to within an inch of their lives! I actually have Oxygene P.1 playing as I write this.

Does anybody remember what it was like being able to get up off the sofa, or a chair, without making a small 'ooh', 'cor' or sharp intake of breath?

Must be too many years scrabbling around under cars.

@dodgy - this entirely depends on the type of chair/sofa/bed - those that are soft and attempt to pull you in (and then require a crane to get you out) are completely prohibited devices and will render all kinds of noises from you as efforts are made to extricate yourself from them.

As I'm old, I can remember Squash being normal strength, even now after 35+ years of it being "Double strength " we all still glug about 3/4" in the bottom of a glass and top it up with water, followed by a sip and the 'Ooh, that's strong!' grimace.

Well, imagine this bad boy turning your face inside out, 20220916_223601.jpg

Yep, FOUR TIMES as strong as the 70s version.

Still continue to put the 3/4" ( 19mm young people) in the glass though.
