Handling wise it could be better than the RS, won't be as quick though. I'm sure there will be re-maps and such that might bring it close but it should of had more grunt from factory.
and the price goes further and further up and sales go down and down, as its only a Golf. Hardly sort after in the grand scheme of sales. who will want a 300bhp Golf as standard from the factory that does few miles to the gallon?
new cars are crazy money, once you factor in depreciation, how can anyone earning less than 100k justify buying one? in 20 years of driving, i've spent 12k on buying cars, and done well over 350k miles
Hardly crazy money, 25-30k isn't bad compared to the 15k a MK2 G60 would have cost you in the early 90's. . . .
wouldn't have bought one of those either, seems a lot of cash, to chuck away 1/2 of it in the first year
Oh dear, you seem to be confused about depreciation, you certainly dont lose anything like that in a year on a desireable model. . . .
My car didnt even lose half its value in 3 years, let alone half its value in 12 months. I'll be ordering a new R20 as soon as i can. Might be towards the start of 2011 though.
be interesting to see what happens. I guess the better specced/desirable ones hold their value more, but then they cost more up front.
Steady prof... Anyone in a reasonable job with a car worth a few quid as a deposit will be in the position to justify buying one, if they want one. It depends on how much they want one. Sure, it'll depreciate...but depreciation is usually the word most often used by those that can't afford it. Or those who buy French cars. If you want one and can afford to buy it, buy it. When you sell it, it's worth what it's worth. Life is too short to worry about loosing every penny...isn't that why we go to work? To buy things that make us happy...'cos I sure as hell don't do it for the love of the job or benefit of the Company.
It's a Northern thing - it's in the genes I say that, as a Northerner, doing my best to break the system
I'd expect about 1500 less with similar options. Plus you don't have the dodgy image of the current Audi 'I have arrived in life now I have an Audi' driver.
so it's about 30k mile M3CSL or 50kmile 911 territory on price. wonder how you'd get on in running costs over 5 years including resale?
I'm sure a new Golf with a 5 year warranty (3 years standard, 2 years extended) would cost a lot less than a 30k mile csl / 50k mile 911 over 5 years. Im still absolutely bemused why people make these kind of ****wit comparisons?
