The excuse was, if you can believe it:

They said it would loose a massive 5 bhp, because of changes needed to the manifold![:s]

IIRC: The quote was in Autocar or Motor?

I, for one would not have minded!

At least Merc. let us have RHD 190E 16V Cossies in both 2.3l and 2.5l form. Bit tarty inside though!

I like the fact that those cars are only available in LHD same as the Golf Rallye adds to the charm in my opinion.

A guy on our street had one of these at the time I was rollin' on my Grifter... loved it... forgot about them, and love them all over again. Maybe this would be my choice... possibly:

I would love a BMW e28 M5. Hand built with a proper M power engine in a sheeps clothing

I had an E28 2.7 eta. Had a stroked 2.5 m20 engine from the factory. We fitted a 3.64 diff for more fun [:D]

    Ha ah:

A Ford Cortina Lotus Mk1b. With nasty cart leaf spring rear suspension!

    The:

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1a, with an A-Frame coil spring suspension, was much better!
