My mate Pete, S & H Motor Club, had an Holbay 998 Imp Rally Car.

It was very fast. But, the swing axle front suspension, ploughed on, in tight bends!

    Check out:

L J K Setright's "Snubeam Imp", in a copy of 'Car Magazine', in the 1970s.

I kept this mag., for years, as the article was so good. But I can't find it at the mo..

    Is that a 262? Not a 242?

    Were they actually called 'Coup'?

Why were there no RHD 242 Turbos? Or, even, RHD 242s, with any engine?

Cos.. Even though the UK market was one of Volvo's best markets, Volvo UK treated the UK with contempt!

Just as Audi UK, VW UK, Opel UK, BMW UK, &c. did.

We were made to buy, four door crap mobiles, when the rest of the LHD world,
got decent LHD two door cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:^(]

they were called the 262 because they where 6 cylinder and 2 doors,
No they weren't actually called coupe at all,
you can't have a RHD turbo as the exhaust downpipe would foul on the steering rack,
Don't think they did them in RHD or am I thinking about the 700 series 2 door which were LHD only

Used to know someone with a 264, had the alloy block V6 engine from a Renault, same as that fancy Renault Alpine IIRC.

What is the world coming too. Was at my mates garage today and he had a Ford Fiesta and Pug 307 on two adjacent ramps, same TD engine in them both. [:s]
