Probably not feeling the delayed wieght transfer through the springs and bars.

Probably a turn in understeer problem caused by to rapid a change in slip angle due to stiffer sidewalls.

Off course it will, you've lost that flabby sidewall absorbing everything.

See 'car understeered earlier at lower speeds'.

See 'Car was more easily unsettled through corners'.

Whats the difference in sidewall between 195/50/15 and 205/40/17?

And, from experience of changing from hard, to soft sidewalls i'm certain that most of the negative effects of the 17's where not just the differing sidewall flex.

If that was the case then i would hate Toyo's compared to eagles...

Wouldn't 17's also raise the centre of gravity too?

Not if the overall wheel radius stays the same, which it should if you change to the correct lower profile tyre.

P.S. 17's do handle crap

Ive stayed away from this thread because as Phat quite rightly says, this is a thread hijack, but I just couldnt help myself.

You guys who say 17s dont handle have you any idea how stupid that sounds?

To equate it to an engine analogy its like saying 285 cams dont work and yet clearly they do in some peoples cars.

You cant just change such a fundamental item as the tyre construction, around which the entire factory suspension system is designed and expect it to work for everybody.

Answer this simple question If 17s dont handle why do they make them?

    Because they look good!

This statement would be true then:

'17" wheels and tyres do not handle as good as 15" wheels and tyres on my car using an otherwise identical setup.'

Thats sounds more stupid than "17's don't handle" IMO ;)
