worth a go but i doubt it will make a difference. worth a check to see if its workin ok, if you put 12v to it you should hear a click :)

Cleaned the metering head as it looked a bit dirty...

I need a replacement throttle body rubber as mine is split. I've taped it up, but rather have one that's in good nick, if anyone has a spare one lying around I'll buy it off you.

Also checked the overrun cut-off valve - clicking and wires didn't heat up when held on...

Right! Stuck a bit of tape over the holes in the throttle body rubber as a temporary fix just to set the CO and idle as Rubjonny's guide. This time, I remembered to warm the car up BEFORE disconnecting the coil wire. Car seemed fine on tick over and driving for about 25 minutes. A little bit hesitant coming off the throttle as slow speed/a bit jerky. But I could live with that until I can get it on a proper meter to set the CO. Soon after, while driving, without braking, but just dipping the clutch, the car started to cut out. Pulled over and noticed that the Throttle body rubber that I'd taped up, had a hole in it where the speedo cable had been rubbing on it - the exact place where the original hole was. This would explain why it was OK at first then took a while to start playing up. So all I need now is a new Throttle body rubber and get the CO set by my local MOT centre.

On the cars I build I tuck the speedo cable along the bulkhead out of the way of all the important hoses, as long as you're careful not to make the cable bend toooo tightly the speedo is fine :) only thing with the 16v one is its a little longer than the 8v version so it may not tuck quite so well.

Thanks. Got a replacement from a lad on on here for 10 posted. Can't get cheaper than that! I'll see if I can re-route the cable to stop it rubbing.

Still waiting for the postman. But in the meantime, does anyone know how much a rolling road with WUR mod is these days?

I think I paid about 130 to stealth to have the fuelling set up/ wur mod and rolling road tune. It was about 2 hours in the workshop and on the rollers. Probably the best money I spent on the car. It made 160ish on the first run and after tweaking they got it to 182. Well worth it as far as I'm concerned.

I'll look for somewhere in the Newcastle area. Stealth are just a little out of my way... about 200 miles out of it.

Gaz you could give MDR motors a ring (formerly tms pug/****ron race specialists) they used to have a rolling road at the old place. They're all top blokes an won't rob you, based in Starbeck Harrogate, still a trek from the toon but closer than Southam!

Dying to know if that inlet boot sorts your running out: that garage you took it to should have checked for air leaks first thing (palmface)

Got the replacement boot on a few days ago. Took it for a drive for 20 minutes, then started cutting out again when pressing the clutch or braking. Drove back home. Tinkered with the Idle/CO then it seemed OK.
Went out for another 25 minutes, and it seemed fine. Left it for about 20 minutes on the drive and tried to start it again, but it really struggled to get going. So now I have warm start issues!

Back to square one I'm afraid. Just been out in the car for about 20 minutes AGAIN. It's still cutting out sometimes when I'm driving if I press the clutch. Worse if I press the clutch AND brake. If I give it some revs with the clutch pressed in, while driving, the Rev Counter plummets to zero and it cuts out.
    Slowly but surely going insane!

And have a good check of the hose that goes from the back of the inlet manifold towards the firewall and along to the servo. It sneaks behind a heat shield and easy to miss a leak there after the valve

Car feels like it's randomly trying to hold back when driving as well. I've ordered a new Overrun Cut-off valve from VW Heritage.

STILL waiting for my overrun cut-off valve from VW Heritage. So I've just unplugged the one on the car and it seems to be working OK. Only issue I have - the car is difficult to start, if I leave it for a little while when warm or hot?
Contemplating putting an ABF in it, in the winter months. Had conversations with a few people that have done this and they seem to think they are less bother than the KR engine.

it is a nice upgrade for sure, but I would change to the full abf managment since there is still something wrong with the kr stuff :)

You're right. Is it worth changing to powered steering at the same time? Finding it hard to live with driving mine with manual steering.
