If they were anything like my 296's a hoot for a very short while, and a pain in the ar$e after that

They were my twin exhaust cams in the first place, so only right that they came back to me?? :)

Thanks for all the info guys  I'm going to stick at it and my Engine will break the 200bhp barrier (aswell as everyones eardrums) early next year with a carefull choice of modifications.
It's a shame Gary wouldn't hang on a bit longer before selling those cams though [xx(]

    Gary......shame you sold those cams

I know it's dissapointing when it doesn't work initially but like everything it's all about evolution,

They do work when you compliment certain mods...certainly the exhaust/inlet/vernier will increase output as mine bares testiment to this.

I maybe going down S4 route soon with an RS4 upgrade so it will be bye bye 16v...especially after taking a ride in Bill's Beeza

    Must be getting old

They were a pig to map to make then idle nice, but they did in the end at a happy 900rpm... and emissions friendly.. power delivery was small until 5Krpm when they took off and smacked into my limiter which was set to 7500rpm at the time. Not peaked, but my motor still ran hydraulic tappets and I feared for their lives if I let it go to 8K which is where the cams wanted to go.
Still got em in a box..

On track (without suitable close ratio box to keep em on the boil) they were 3 secs/lap slower round combe. Kept falling off cam. DOH! Wild from 5K tho. Stopped the dyno @ 7500rpm @ 186bhp @ wheels (previously 170bhp)

I would imagine the forthcoming ring trip played apart in going back to kr cams and not having the time to play with the current spec?pity as I reckon that could of been a really stong motor

It was a really strong motor before he put the cams in, obviously at it's peak as it was [:^(]

Just spoken to him 30 mins ago, hes had a problem with putting his KR's back in, so my ;) twin exhaust cams have gone back in instead. I do hope that it sets up properly for the 'ring trip :)

I might have kept them under false pretences [:$]

Tip - 16v on the inlet cam, the bearing cap without a number, fit this the wrong way around and the cams won't turn [:$] [:$] [:$] It was late, blah blah blah....

Back to a driveable car, that feels a bit dead at the top end now

Dex said I should try some 260s, I'll be f*cked if I'm fitting anymore cams in that engine, I've been dreaming about 'lining those dots up' all week [:x]
