Yeah, it measures body water content. Sends a signal in one toe, and reads it returning down the other foot's toe!
People often don't believe me when I tell them I put on three stone (and reduced bf%) in two..... ...... YEARS!!!!
I've used those bf% monitors and think they are total cack. I once tried four attempts and got a totally different reading each time (+-10% difference!). US marines use neck/waist ratio which seems to work quite well - got a chart somewhere in the house...
i think they send some sort of electrical pulse through your body which passes through everything but fat (or might be the other way round) so is able to deduce how much mass is fat and how much is bone and muscle. or something.
Yeah as said those body fat mass things are cack. You never get an accurate reading on them. Hit the gym for weights yesterday - did leg work and chest work - almost collapsed walking out the gym as my legs were all over the place
I do alot of riding, with doing weights as well Mon, wed, fri & sun is spent riding, averaging 45 miles a week riding and one 25mile a month ride, so almost 200 miles a month spent riding. on the tue and thurs i do weights, appx an hour - arm curls, shoulder lifts, press ups etc those 45 miles a week are mainly done on the road (sundays is off roading) and all done on fully off road tyres...so yes its bloody hard on the road, but works the muscles! anyway, what are the effects if i drink the protein drinks, are they only for doing purely weights or can they be used for when you do alot of cardio rides etc and want to beef up a bit?
Tony - I'd say you'll only tone yourself up on the rides. Need heavy weights to put on signicant muscle mass.
Benoit was a total legend. Sadly ended up being a murderer. Always seemed the perfect role model (except the steds etc) I slapped him on the back once. As I did Cena and HHH. I was drunk, ringside. I dont always slap sweaty muscley men.
Yeah thats what I thought, thanks for the reply I am happy with the size I am now, so will continue toning are there milkshakes or something like that for people who do more endurance, rather than weight lifting? as I am working up to do two 25 mile rides a month instead of just the one at the moment
Tony - Probably best to drink non milk stuff - It'll go off in your bottle/Camelbak! I find Lucozade sport works wonders - Really helped me recover quickly on Sunday (just started 10k trail racing recently). Might be worth diluting it a bit for distance. There are a million and one expensive sports drinks but I think they are OTT. You shouldn't really need specialist drinks for 25 miles though - I'd say anything under 40 miles just requires plenty of water and maybe a snack bar (Tracker or similar) or two.
Bin training properly now for four months. Only recently bumped up the weights and sorted the diet. Was doing around 12 reps before but want to go into security now so trying to bulk up a bit. CJ

What are those pump up tablets actually meant to do? Make your muscle retain water? The only accurate way of measuring BF% is with calipers. Whats your height, weight, etc...?
