Yeah it would show up any grease that got on it, I would imagine that satin would be easier to keep clean.
Still think it would be quite hard to get a uniform finish on the car, surely some places would go shiney?

very tempting! Plus when some tw@t scratches it in a car park, a quick bit of filler and blow over and it's good as new!

Well as my Golfs is currently a mixture of it's original blue, another unknown blue, and primer, I figure being all one colour would help it!

It'll smarten the colour up anyway and not like a full proper respray is worth the money on a car this old.

I agree though that with your golf in the sig that looks to be in good nick it would be a waste to rat syle it, just mine justifies it!

Thats it I'm gonna give it a go, bought three cans of satin black yesterday (its all the shop had)

I freshened up the nearside front wing (was still panel black) as I havent had the car resprayed yet as I bought it salvage with light front end damage and I fitted two pattern wings. Looks good, but could have done with a sand down first as you can see where the panle part no label had been, and it had a few runs allready.

Gonna chose my best panels then sand them down and spray em up.

Yep would love to see it. Resprayed my arches today but standard blue as had the paint already and wanted to get it looking okish for the time being.

I'm out of blue though and need to do the boot once I've rubbed it down and done the wiper hole so will do that black I think and see how it holds up, then can concentrate on the drop and alloys.

Well I dropped the rear of the golf today and matt blacked the boot as a trial. The four arches I've just sprayed back to the original blue for now. The 60mm drop spring sonly seem to have dropped 40mm so hoping they settle a bit. Realised my rear shocks are fecked but thought I'd finish fitting them anyway to help the settle. Will order new one's this week.

for a more durable finish spray it black then use a matt laquer over the top.

I actually found the matt black seemed to cover really well and is a thicker paint, could put in well thick and it didn't even jint at running unlike the panles I did with proper VW blue that had a couple of runs.

Proper "Rat look" it. Multi coloured panels with the odd splash of red oxide primer on the rusty bits. :)
