MK2 engine undertray

    Does anyone know where to get a Golf MK2 engine undertray, aside from SWG who seem to want 150 for one?

    There was a chap on eBay called engine_protect who was selling them for 30ish, but none are listed at the moment (though I have sent him an email to see if he still has any).

    I wondered if there's any other source for those cheap 30 ones, if the guy on eBay doesn't come back to me.

    I think they were standard on the diesels so may be worth trying to find one of them

    looks like you only need the front bit if it's a big bumper
    look below
    the under tray is the same p/n

    I bought one about 2 years ago from uk ebay (engine protect)

    Looks the same as the German ebay ones mentioned further up.

    Fitted easier than expected - holes all lined up with existing holes on my 89 car.

    It attaches to the front crossmember so bumper type doesnt matter.

    Also mounts to main crossmember

    and 1 screw in each chassis leg (no drilling - hole + screw insert there already:thumbup: )


    I had to trim a small hole to fit round the lowest point of the PAS pump assembly.

    Does a grand job of keeping water and muck out the engine bay and off the drive belts!

    Well worth the money.

    that good so you need try and some screws
    i take it your car has a small bumper

    Bumpers as per signature

    It would leave a gap forward of front cross member on big bumper cars.

    For 30 I'm happy.

    I have a Seat diesel PAS/alternator ribbed belt setup.

    May explain the need to cut a small hole in the undertray.

    First post, but some experience with this one.

    Fitted a Seat Toledo (1996) diesel undertray to my Mk2, all fixing points align with the subframes, only needed trimming on the leading edge to clear bumper.

    engine bay temp has risen but engine noise significantly reduced.

    nice one that looks a good fit and tempture rise is nice to know
    i have noticed that mk4s diesel has the full undertray but the v6 only has a small tray just in front of the engine

    i suppose we could cut the sides at the back of the tray to let more air through
    if the temperature rise becomes a problem
