put one of these on my passat (obv. a passat specific undertray but design is exactly the same) and engine temps didnt change at all . . . although it has got the cutout for the sump like the mk2 one rather than being like the toledo one.

first thing i noticed was less road/engine noise. should help mpg too. nice little mod.

the fact that vagcat is coming up with a price raises the chances of it not being obsolete. I will call my mate at the local VAG parts dept. 229.5 is expensive though.

mine was 10 from a scrapyard, only held on by 3 screws into the subframe and a little screw into the arch liner.

Keep us updated...I'd have to butcher one of these to suit my sump, so don't really want to spend too much on it.

I got mine mostly in place yesterday lunchtime.

The side fixings are easy enough, old belt splashguard comes off on the offside, 3 screws IIRC, 1 accessible with steering on right lock, other two just under the front. Then the offside side fixing of the undertray goes straight back on one of these points, and there's an existing hole on the nearside, accessible with the steering t'other way.

Front fixing holes seemed to line up with holes in the panelwork, well enough for me to get a couple of big tyraps through anyway. Couldn't see/feel well enough with car on the ground to do the rear fixings, but I'm fairly sure they'll bolt up easy enough. Should be dead easy to drill any new holes in the plastic if required.

I'll try and get a piccy or two at lunchtime. :)

    Yep, small bumper.
I think everything's just going to fit nicely. Looks like there would optimally be some captive clip-on fixings on the front and rear edges, for self-tapping screws to go into 'properly'. May well be available from VW, dunno.
