Cage, multi point weld in from CC. Fitted by famous escort Rally fab specialist, plus seat rails and some chassis strengthening. Golf Mk1 3 dr no sunroof.

I suspect that he is counting on me paying cash, so i doubt it included VAT

Saxon have quoted me 1500-2000 (depending on actual spec) for a weld in multi and Rollcentre quoted 1400+vat.

It must be a who you know environment to get things cheaper.

Do you really need a cage to that spec ?

Mine started as a six point bolt in but has another six attachments making it pretty well located.

Exactly. Obviously building nice cars is an aim to have, but 2k and you've over spent by a large margin. Custom Cages don't cost that, and I (personally) regard those as the very top of the tree.

Bit of both to be honest - basic cage with add-ons to my spec/design. I decided where some of the bars went and the rear beam links were my idea but left them to decide the best way to do it!

Dash brace is currently out awaiting MC's to be fitted to the pedal box so that i can sort any clearance issues before its welded in permanently.

Although it looks heavy its not!

Erm, not sure what it weighs, but from pushing it around it doesn't feel any heavier than when it had a bolt-in Safety Devices cage in it [:s]

    It cost me 1.5k all-in.

Ok, so I lied, it was 1280 plus VAT which took it to 1,504......!!!

And I know your's cost more Mr P....

I just started with a basic cage, then added more bits which added to the price, for example linking the ends of the door bars (top) to the rear turrets added 80 to the price, additional rear diagonal was another 80 and so on. I've got the receipt in front of me if you want proof :p

I got a bit carried away but after the hassle of the previous one just wanted it done right so i'd not have to revisit the cage again.

    the cheeky f**kers.

mine was 300 extra for the T45, and 100 extra for the front strut brace.

then the killer blow, PLUS EFFING VAT!!

Mine didn't include the front 'strut brace' as that was already there from the previous attempt.

I'd forgotten about the VAT too which was a bit of a pain when it came to paying for the bloody thing

However I can't fault the workmanship as every weld is perfect, the fit is perfect and they had a couple of attempts at doing the front legs, which cost them as the first attempt was also in T45!!!

    I'd certainly recommend them.

I've rung a couple of places so far for a fully integrated roll cage to be fitted to my ibiza. Custom Cages was mid 1300+vat and Caged have come back with a massive 2200+vat

What a hell of a difference.

I still think the welding on CC ones is awful.

you'd need to be a v good welder to get round a cage neatly in situ.
