The constant velocity that the plane is travelling at, is due to its having engines producing enough power, to maitain its constant velocity, with its areodynamic drag!

You jump, you decelerate, in a forward direction, accelerate, in a downdard direction, until you reach terminal velocity, or hit the ground!

You do not have the power in your arms to maintain flight, and you are a drag artist!

 

But Dave, why should you decelerate in the forward direction? What force is involved?
