Still haven't got round to the engine build but I'm continuing to work on the wiring. Here's the lighting loom. It needed a bit of a rebuild to repair a few wires and a fairly extensive reroute and entension to get it to fit down the wings.

That's a nylon expandable sleeving. It's actually in all the pics. The whole loom is done. I braid looms for people as part of a business I part own and I do all my own looms when I'm installing anything in my own cars. This is a bit of an ocd thing for me.

    probably a silly question but.........

I have done some research and found that the Zetec boys have managed to use the standard GSXR 750 injectors, and getting circa 180bhp......

But the information has contradictions to what we have learned here.

The GSXR 750 injectors have a flow rate of 240cc/m @ 3 bar, but the info we have here is a 2ltr 16v engine will require circa 315cc/m

I am trying to find a solution that'll let me use the Suzuki injector ports...... Because I want to weld bosses on to the inlet runners for NOS, and it all gets a bit cramped if I have to mount the injectors there too!

    Any thoughts?

In my case it's not really relevant as i'm using the bosch red tops in the standard vw ports. Why not just use the suzuki injector ports for your nos?

The nos injectors are threaded....... They also need to be 90deg to flow!

More research needed and/or a drawing exercise to redesign my inlet manifold.

How thick are they? It shouldn't be hard to make them fit even if you do have to weld and tap bosses on.

IIRC they are 15mm in diameter.

It just space thats causing a problem, that and my desire to keep it all a clean looking as possible.

I'll working it out I'm sure, one way or the other..........LOL

What length are your runners. Can they be mounted on the underside of the runners?

    Runners are 70mm in length..........

The NOS injectors are already designed to be mounted on the underside, but need to be as near to the TB's as reasonable to allow a good misting/mix. It doesnt leave a lot of room for the fuel injectors let alone the fuel rail etc

I'll have to get the sketch pad out later............ Maybe the 'compromise' button will need to be hit!

Have just emailed a bike tuning firm an asked about uprated injectors, see if they have an answer!

    Many thanks

    RESULT...............

The bike tuning firm have just got back to me............ High flow versions are available and in use regularly in the U.S., they are a direct replacment for the originals!

Let the search across the pond start..........! (my brother lives over there too, so might pass him the task)

It's been a while. Lets get this show back on the road. Parts are finally on the way from the states. Full sets of bearings and ARP bolts, new sump etc etc. Block is also going for a little bit of a spruce up. Been working hard on interior bits and wiring.

Sorry to keep hi jacking this thread but..........

What compression ratio are those pistons supposed to return?

Can any explain how you come to the decision what ratio is best for any application?

    They're 12.3:1.

However it'll obviously depend on which head gasket setup I go for as well. I can start off with a very high compression and play with it with spacing depending on my clearances. The block above is now powdercoated. I just need to go and collect it.
